Goodbye, Old Friend

October 24, 2006

I buried my friend today.

I suppose I am supposed to be pretty sad, right?  Actually, it was kind of nice.  She’s going to spend forever under a lovely Japanese maple, which seems like a pretty good place to be.

Of course, when she died on Saturday, I was a wreck.  But it was more about the process than the finality.  She’d lived a good, long life and was in terrible shape, so the death in itself was actually a gift of peace.  It was just the road to peace that hurt so much.

I guess it always does.

Goodbye my dear, sweet girl.  You were loved and you will always be missed.

I want to be moved…

October 4, 2006

by something.  Anything.

Music used to move me, inspire me.  Now it just bores me.

People used to move me, invigorate me.  Now they just frustrate me.

Books, films, restaurants, events–all the same.

I watched What the Bleep Do We Know? this past weekend.  Quantum physics suggests that we can affect our world and our minds and make it all what we want it to be.

Still trying.
